Simply said, we at Incarnation are part of a larger body of Lutherans and an even larger body of Christians who believe Jesus of Nazareth was God’s Word made flesh in the world for the sake of the world. We believe Jesus is the Christ who is the living and abiding Word of God in our world today. We believe we continue to meet Christ in the reading of scripture, in the preaching of God’s Word, in the bread and wine of Communion, and in our neighbor out in the world.
We believe we are called to welcome and love all people as Jesus loved us. We believe we are called in our baptism to witness to God’s grace and forgiveness for all God’s children. Because we are not perfect people, these are difficult and challenging ministries, but with the power of the Spirit and with hope in God’s mighty purposes, we believe all things are possible.
We acknowledge that much of what we believe is a mystery and not explainable by worldly measurements. We do not apologize for this nor are we embarrassed by it. We have experienced over the last two millennia that things we often cannot explain – like prayer, like our baptism – are actually powerful and effective. We invite you to deepen your experience of God’s amazing grace and power among us.
