It is almost a cliché to say coffee, food and fellowship are important to Lutherans. Our Koinonia Vision Team makes sure that there is always plenty of all of those things here at Incarnation. A characteristic of the early Christian church was the daily gathering of the congregation's families to share food, talk about the day’s trials and triumphs and to gain a deeper understanding, not just of the Word, but also of each other. In this way, they grew from a group of individual people into the people of God. We at Incarnation love to work, and play hard so that we may grow together in the same ways.
Ice cream socials, pot lucks, fish fries and beach trips all sound like fun, and they sure are, but they are also enjoyable ways to share our lives with each other. We grow in Christ as we get to know each other better in an atmosphere of faith and fun. We also come together in the same small groups to do God’s work as we understand it. Often the work is the entertainment and sometimes the entertainment takes a good deal of work. Either way, we are better Christians for knowing each other better and learning how together we can make a bigger difference in the world by uniting to work for God’s plan. The Koinonia Vision Team sees a world where we all live in a fellowship community of friends that works as a team for our Lord.
