Our Community Partners Vision Team sees a world where people pass each other unnoticed; where many of us wonder why things are the way they are and why nobody is doing anything about it. We have a vision of people living in community; a community where no one is a stranger, and we work together to improve the places where we live and lend a hand to people here and around the world. Our vision is not just a daydream or the fanciful imaginings of a naïve group of unrealistic idealists. We are working hard to make it a reality because we are mature and responsible idealists set to do what we can to further our Lord’s mission on Earth.
We actively support several of our own initiatives in our community where we partner with God to improve our world and several more where we partner with other members of the faith community to do the same. We feed the hungry through Meals on Wheels, the Harvest Hope Food Bank and by taking our turn stirring the pot at the Soup Kitchen at Washington Street Methodist Church. We work for reconciliation of all God’s children through the Shandon Cluster of Churches and the Metro Columbia Cluster. We put our shoulder to the wheel at the Lutheran Campus Ministry, Habitat for Humanity. We actively support a Troop of Boy Scouts and the USC School of Medicine’s students. Our Child Development Center is probably our biggest effort, and it is growing rapidly as we seek to expand this very important service that nurtures young lives.
The Community Partners Vision Team itself is here to support the individual ministry teams that work in these and many other efforts to strengthen and support our community. Those Ministry Teams are made up of Incarnation members as well as their friends and acquaintances who have found opportunities to serve God through service to others in the Columbia area and beyond. See Our Most Valuable Links under Resources on our Home Page for more of these ministries.
Does helping out in your community sound like something you want to do? Is taking real steps to fulfill our Lord’s commandment to love one another something that appeals to you? Please visit us at Incarnation Lutheran Church and see why we love being God’s partners in our community.
